The tertiary programme is a formal training programme in professional skills that is carried out outside the primary and secondary school years. This could be either at professional colleges, technical schools, polytechnics, universities or approved apprenticeships such as mechanical training.

The objective of this programme is to train the children in a particular line of work which will make them productive citizens. They will be able to fend for themselves and their own families and contribute towards national development.
